A highlight of the North American Fastpitch Association annual slate will split into two events for the 2013 season, NAFA WoodBat commissioner Dave Parker and NAFA executive director Benjie Hedgecock announced.

Formerly the NAFA WoodBat Nationals, the premier event on the WoodBat men’s fastpitch softball scene will split into the NAFA Western WoodBat World Series, set for Aug. 24-25 in Prescott, Arizona, and the NAFA Eastern WoodBat World Series, set for Aug 31 and Sept 1 in Madison, Wisconsin.

The Western event at the legendary Prescott complex will be a three-game guarantee, with prizes for first through fifth place, All-American awards, tournament MVP and MVP pitcher. Entry fee is $350.

The Madison Eastern event is set for Labor Day weekend at the Bowling Green Recreation Center in Middleton, Wis.

Last summer, the Kansas City Indios defeated the Wizards of Oz to earn the 2012 WoodBat Nationals title.
