1st Day at NAFA “A”

A truly incredible day at the NAFA “A” World Series at the beautiful 8 field Sportscore 1 Complex in Rockford, Illinois.
Great weather, a friendly and relaxed atmosphere started the day, some great battles developed, some surprise outcomes and a most gratifying Tournament Ceremony which featured the Hall of Fame Inductions of some unique individuals. The last original NAFA founder Roger Regez from Wisconsin was inducted as was longtime Wisconsin Sponsor and coach Mark Repking of Rep and Baha fame. Big man with the soft heart Harvey Knuteson from New Image was inducted as were three of the most dominating pitchers(as well as top personalities) in NAFA history in Tony Peoples(Lyons FP, So Cal Bombers, California who now lives in Iowa), Darcy Byrne(Kegel Fastpitch from North Dakota), and the single most decorated individual in the history of NAFA, Jeremy Holman, New Image. Three wonderful guys that stayed with their friends and original teammates setting a true example of what a friend and leader is. NAFA President Ronn Kopp did a wonderful job with Roger Regez and Mark Repking’ induction speeches and the Executive Director was honored to induct Darcy Byrne, Tony Peeples, Harvey Knuteson and Jeramie Holman. Last week we inducted Bryan Lathrop(Evansville Bowl, New Image, Rice Lake Orangeman) and Minnesota Umpire Larry Wendt. At the Open World Series in July, Vice President, Mike Watson inducted Terry Knight, longtime fastpitch sponsor and the GM of the Bowling Green Sports Complex in Middelton, Wisconsin. The final member of the 2011 NAFA Hall of Fame Class, Mike Smith, will be inducted at Carson City Nevada, Sept. 16-18 at the West Masters when he toes the pitchers plate for his defending 40-Over Champ team, the Seadogs.
