The North American Fastpitch Association has announced the following
eligibility requirements for players who will be competing in the
2007 NAFA Class "A" and Class "A-Major" World Series.
Class "A" World Series
Guidelines
1-Teams competing in the
NAFA "A" World Series must be classified as Class "A" by their
State/Provincial Director. The NAFA Vice Presidents, Jon Kegel
in the West and Loren Lathrop in the East, will review any team or
player that a State Director believes is in between classes or that
the State Director has not collected enough information on.
Players
Classified higher than ASA "C" or CASA Intermediate "C" are not
eligible unless pre-approved by both the State Director and the
Executive Director or appropriate Vice President.
2-Players who played on
teams in competing in any of the following tournaments, in the
previous two years, are NOT ELIGIBLE for the NAFA "A" World Series
unless first pre-approved by the Executive Director:
a-ISC World
Tournament or ISC II Tournament of Champions (unless acknowledged as
host or fill-in team)
b-ASA Major National
Tournament (unless acknowledged as host or fill-in team)
c-ASA Class "A"
National Tournament (unless acknowledged as host or fill-in team)
d-ASA Class "B"
National Tournament (unless acknowledged as host or fill-in team)
e-NAFA Class "AAA"
World Series (unless playing up legally as a team)
f-NAFA Class "AA"
World Series (unless playing up legally as a team)
g-Canadian Senior
National Tournament (unless acknowledged as host or fill-in team)
h-Western or Eastern
Senior "B" - or Intermediate "A" Canadians - (unless acknowledged as
host or fill-in team)
3-You may play up but not
down in Class. Players on this years Class AA team (or higher)
regular rosters are NOT eligible to play in the Class "A" World
Series. Players in the Class A World Series ARE eligible for
the "AA" or "A-Major" World Series (and higher) as approved pick-up
players.
4-Teams may NOT play in the
2006 NAFA "A" World Series unless pre-approved by the Executive
Director if they:
a-Finished in the
top eight (8)of the previous year's "A-Major" or higher World Series
without using pick-up pitchers
and/or players
b-Won two (2) games
in any of the previous two years at the ASA Class "B" Nationals
c-Finished in the
top eight (8) in the previous year ASA Class "C" National or NAFA
Class "A" World Series
(unless approved by National Classification Committee).
d-Won more than one
game in the ISC II Tournament of Champions the previous year unless
first pre-approved.
Class "A-Major" World
Series Guidelines
1-Teams may not play in the
2006 NAFA "A-Major" World Series if they:
a-Finished in the top 16 in the previous year "AA" or higher World
Series without using pickup pitchers and/or
players.
b-Won
four (4) games in the previous years ASA Class "B" Nationals without
approval.
c-Finished in the top eight (8) in the previous years ASA Class "B"
Nationals (unless approved by National
Classification Committee).
d-Won
more than two (2) games in the ISC II Tournament of Champions the
previous year unless first
approved.
2-Class A and A-Major teams
are allowed three (3) pick-up players. Class A teams pick-up
players must be pre-approved by their State Director, Vice President
or the Executive Director. All pick-up players will be shown
on the roster with an asterisk (*).
3-All team rosters must be
signed by the appropriate NAFA State Director and all pitchers must
be approved prior to being added to a team roster and prior to being
brought to the World Series.
4-Any eligibility issues
which are not covered by the requirements presented above will be
decided by the State Director in association with the Vice President
or the Executive Director.
5-The geographic
boundaries for all divisions of NAFA have been removed for the 2006 season.
Any player that does not live in a State or Province touching the home
state that the team is registered in should notify their State Director so
that we can track this issue at the 2006 World Series. The need for
geographic boundaries will be reexamined at the National Meeting at the 2007 NAFA World Series.
